WHAT IS ZOOTHERAPY?

Zootherapy, or animal-assisted therapy, is a structured intervention recently introduced for patients at La Maison. It aims to provide moments of relaxation, calm, and joy. Animals have this magical power!

Welcome Paulette!

La Maison de la Sérénité would like to introduce you to a new "employee,” Paulette! A little blue French bulldog. She joined the team at La Maison on May 19 and holds the position of  ‘’therapy dog’’ to our Nursing Coordinator, Caroline Soucy! Paulette received a very warm welcome from the whole team and quickly made herself at home!

Paulette comes to work several days a week with Caroline and will eventually be trained in Zootherapy. Paulette is privileged because Caroline is certified as a Zootherapist. Her extensive training has enabled her to develop this new program, adding to the services already available at La Maison de la Sérénité.

Our little Paulette performed one of her first sessions with one of our patients in early July 2023, supervised by Caroline. Here she is with Mrs. Johanne Savoie, both enjoying this extraordinary moment. And this is just the beginning of Paulette's interactions with Mrs. Savoie! Paulette has an innate instinct for bringing calm and joy. Being a very sociable dog, she adapts to each person and their condition.

We're delighted to be able to offer this service which, while primarily intended for the patients we care for, it is also much appreciated by all our staff. Paulette's presence at La Maison is a great energy source and contributes to everyone's emotional well-being.
