La Maison presents the testimony of one of the healthcare staff members, Mrs. Caroline Brien, Nursing Assistant.

"Life has given me a priceless gift, to be by my friend Luc's side and to hold his hand until the very last moment after a hard battle he lost to cancer. Despite the sadness, this was a revelation for me. I felt accomplished, and I knew immediately that I wanted to accompany people at the end of life. When asked what I do for a living, I answer: what I do for a living, I answer: "I have the privilege to work as a nursing assistant at La Maison de la Sérénité. A house where each staff member is invested, respectful, and human. Our mission is to accompany, with dignity, adults with their realities and life experiences and their loved ones so that their last moments are light and filled with true peace." People at the end of life do not have time to waste on futilities. They are real and honest people. They have a good sense of banter and a way to de-dramatize, which is a blessing. Because of them, I become aware each day that rubbing shoulders with death is always enjoying life. It is receiving humanly more than I could ever give back."

Mrs. Caroline Brien, Nursing Assistant at La Maison de la Sérénité

Mr. Claude Tessier, former member of the Board of Directors.

''When I joined the great team of Alimentation Couche-Tard in 2016, the cause of La Maison de la Sérénité drew me in, which was dear to the heart of Couche-Tard's founders. I joined the board of directors of La Maison shortly after I arrived at Couche-Tard. The cause of palliative care is one that I care about. I lost my parents when they were very young, and their loss taught me a lot about end-of-life care and the importance of providing quality palliative care. By its mission, La Maison de la Sérénité responds perfectly to this need. It is a privilege for me to be part of a large corporation committed to such a cause which, through its radiance, provides essential support to maintain the level of care offered by this Maison. I am very proud to be able to continue what the founders started by participating in the foundation of La Maison de la Sérénité and who, together, have made this dream a reality. A bed for a patient for a single day is estimated at $603. As a corporation and as individuals, we are responsible for supporting La Maison de la Sérénité, the only center offering palliative care in Laval. Every dollar counts. On behalf of myself and the other members of the board of directors of La Maison, I would like to thank the employees, the volunteers, the donors, the partners, and colleagues who also sit on the board for contributing to making La Maison's mission shine daily. THANK YOU!"
