Volunteer position descriptions

Role 

To welcome visitors and manage telephone calls

Duties

• Welcome and guide visitors and have them sign the register

• Process telephone calls

• Review log book

• Receive payments for meals

• Manage petty cash

• Sell promotional items

• Keep the workstation clean and organized

• Perform clerical tasks

• Take part in certain special events

Standard schedule 

Weekdays and weekends

• 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM

• 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM

• 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Availability

The ability to ensure a presence for a minimum of four (4) continuous hours is required. This may be on a weekly or another basis, according to the availability of each person. The conditions of availability are agreed on with the Coordinator of Volunteers, after training has been provided.

Role 

To assist the cook or kitchen steward in various tasks

Duties 

• Take part in the meal prep work: peeling vegetables, preparing the day’s desserts

• Pick up dirty dishes in the dining room

• Wash dishes

• Refill products in the dining room (sugar, coffee, paper napkins, utensils, etc.)

• Clean dining room tables

• Keep the kitchen and cupboard areas clean

• 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM

Availability

Duties

• Perform simple tasks such as carpentry; carry out minor repair work, and use electrical equipment

Assurer l’entretien et préserver l’environnement externe de La Maison

Duties

• Maintain flowerbeds

• Mow the lawn

• Prune bushes and shrubs

• Plant flowers

• Ensure the treatment of trees and flowers

• Water lawn and plants

• Pick up leaves in the Fall

• Ensure maintenance of the parking lot

• Perform minor repairs
