Our mission

La Maison‘s mission is to provide services free of charge to adult end-of-life patients so that they may pass on peacefully while receiving quality care, supported by a caregiving team and surrounded by their loved ones, in a quiet and warm environment.

Our values

The values of La Maison are the outcome of its history and the basis of its identity and culture. They give meaning to its actions. They direct engagement, reinforce cohesion and structure modes of cooperation through the adoption of a code of conduct shared by all stakeholders at La Maison. As part of its 2020-2023 strategic planning process, its values were revisited. After consultation with staff, those retained are the following:

Respect and dignity

  • We recognize that each individual has the right to be respected as a human being and treated with courtesy and kindness. We respect each other’s differences, ideas, and limitations.

  • We recognize dignity as a fundamental human right; its aim is to protect the individual’s many interests, whether it be their physical, psychological, spiritual, or cultural integrity.

Kindness and compassion

  • We value a benevolent attitude towards the needs of each individual by being compassionate and trying to understand and act with respect for their wellness to ensure a quality relationship while respecting their individual and collective well-being.

  • We empathize with others, listen to them and take a comforting, non-judgmental approach. Compassion is the source of inspiration for our dedication to our patients and their loved ones.

Competent and professional behaviour

  • We encourage rigor, concern for quality as well as efficiency in getting the job done and achieving the desired results. Competence implies accountability for our actions and our decisions, as well as the judicious use of the resources and information provided to us. It is demonstrated with knowledge, know-how, and tactfulness.

  • We are committed to providing quality care and services while fully respecting our organization’s code of conduct. We value striving for excellence rather than ease: It means preferring the satisfaction of a job well done to carelessness; it means choosing to evolve, to develop, and to surpass oneself.

Cooperation and solidarity

  • We value teamwork and mutual support in achieving our goals and the pleasure of living together and having interactions, of establishing good interpersonal communications and humane and sincere exchanges.

  • We encourage staff to provide mutual assistance, cooperate, and consult rather than compete with one another. We prioritize the quest for the common good over personal interest. We are aware that we are part of a team, and we know that we can count on each other.
